Título: Longitudinal Data Analysis: Moving Beyond LOCF (Last Observation Carried Forward)
This talk focuses on methods for handling missing data in longitudinal research. Two important questions need to be considered in handling missing data: (1) Why are the data missing? (2) How much missing data is there? Four broad methods for handling missing data will be then be described: case deletion methods, imputation, available data analysis, and adjustment methods. Results of a simulation study using real eating disorder longitudinal data will then be reported comparing these different methods of handling missing data. The results will be interpreted in terms of recommendations for handling missing data and implications for research design.
